The Howe Sound Residence
Caulfeild, West Vancouver
Tucked into the forested calm of Caulfeild, just steps from Lighthouse Park, this 1956 rancher had good bones and a better setting. Working alongside architect Gregory Funk, Crave Homes took on a full exterior and interior renovation, honoring the home’s low-slung, single-level footprint while rebuilding it into a refined West Coast retreat for modern living.
The 2,073 sq ft home sits on a private 13,636 sq ft lot and now delivers three bedrooms and three bathrooms (two full, one half) across a single level, with a carport wired for EV charging. Over roughly eight months, our crew reworked the home from the studs out, pairing the architect’s material palette with construction detailing built for the coastal climate.
Out back, a wellness patio anchors the renovation’s most personal touch: a cedar sauna, a cold plunge, and a fire pit arranged for year-round use, rain or shine. It’s the kind of outdoor room that only works when the layout, drainage, and sightlines are solved early, the product of close collaboration between architect and builder from the first drawings.
